Frequently asked questions
When will my logbook be available?
Our onboard internet connection can be limited, and our photographers often work several voyages back‑to‑back before returning home to upload your content.
Your digital logbook is usually available 2–3 weeks after disembarkation.
How long is the logbook available for download?
Your complimentary digital logbook is available for download for three months after it has been published. Please note that logbooks are not archived and cannot be retrieved after this three‑month period.
The YouTube video included in the logbook will remain online permanently and can be viewed at any time. However, downloading the video is not permitted due to copyright restrictions.
How do I download the images?
To download all images from your voyage:
- Click the “Download Photos” button located just above the image gallery.
- The photos will download as a .zip folder.
The photos come in a .zip folder. How do I extract them?
A .zip folder allows lossless compression and enables us to deliver all photos to you at once in an efficient, organized way.
How to extract (unzip) the folder
- Right‑click the downloaded .zip folder.
- Select “Extract all…” (or the equivalent option on your device).
- Choose where you want the extracted folder to be saved.
- Click Extract / OK to start the process.
- Once complete, you’ll have full access to all your voyage photos.

How do I save the video link for future viewing?
Here are a few simple options:
Option 1: Email the link to yourself
Copy the video URL and send an email to your own email address.
This makes the link easy to find whenever you open your email.
Option 2: Save it in a document
Copy the link into a Word or LibreOffice document and save it on your device.
Option 3: For Gmail users (Google Docs)
If you use Gmail, you automatically have access to Google Docs:
- Go to docs.google.com
- Click the “+” symbol to create a new blank document
- Paste the YouTube link into the file
- Google Docs saves automatically online
- You can reopen the file anytime from any device
Why can’t I download the YouTube video?
The voyage summary video is the copyrighted property of HX Expeditions, so we do not offer a downloadable version. You can watch it freely on YouTube without an account.
Even with YouTube Premium, downloading only creates a temporary offline viewing link, not an actual video file. The video will still play within YouTube.
Can I get a paper copy of the logbook?
HX does not distribute paper copies.
We offer the logbook only in digital format, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and reducing unnecessary printing waste.
May I get the logbook in my language?
At the moment, the logbook is available only in English.
We aim to offer additional languages in the future.
Can I share photos or videos from the logbook on social media?
Yes, you are welcome to share your photos on Instagram, Facebook or X (Twitter) with friends and family.
Please note:
- All images are copyright HX Expeditions and the individual photographer.
- They are provided for your personal use only and must not be resold or redistributed.
- Public sharing is permitted with proper attribution to HX Expeditions and the photographer.
- Commercial use is not allowed.
Why isn’t there a specific photo of an animal, person, or scene I remember?
Our photographers curate each logbook carefully. If a specific photo is missing, it may be because:
- The image did not meet quality standards.
- The photo was taken for scientific documentation and not intended for guest distribution.
- Close‑up images of guests cannot be included due to GDPR and privacy regulations.
Why isn’t the photographer’s auctioned image included in the logbook or slideshow?
When a photo is selected for the onboard charity auction, that exact image becomes an exclusive print and isn’t added to the voyage slideshow or digital logbook.
The photographer normally captures several images during the same encounter, so other similar photos may still be included to document the moment for guests. In the rare case that only one usable image exists, that photo remains exclusive to the auction winner.
Can I get a photo in higher resolution?
The photos included in the logbook are provided at 1920px resolution (16:9), which is ideal for viewing on computers and TVs.
This resolution does not allow significant cropping or large-format printing.
The original full‑resolution files remain the copyrighted property of HX Expeditions and are not distributed.
